During a recent food styling exercise, these fun KitKat videos were created by using stop frame animation over a period of three days in order to get the desired effect.
We had to produce 12 milk tarts, and nine layered Christmas trifles in various sized glass bowls and dishes, so that they would not diminish the hero, the KitKat.
The bases for the Black Forest Cake had to be baked four days in advance to make them stale, therefore making them easier to slice and perform under camera. Cake crumbs were meticulously glued back with Vaseline.
We were too early for fresh cherries, so we had to use maraschinos, which worked in the end because they gave the cake a lighter feel.
Stop frame animation is a more tricky method of photography as one has to lock down the camera, and then make very sure that nothing, absolutely nothing, moves the camera.
Enjoy the offering.
